Dear Parents,

     It hardly seems possible that thirty-five years have passed since opening our first Learning Time Preschool.  In our early years, classes were held in rooms leased from a neighborhood church.  Because it’s rooms were not large enough to have “self-contained” classrooms, we implemented the idea of rotating classrooms.  Each room was equipped for specific areas of learning, which inclused rooms for Language Arts, Art/Small Muscle, and Large Motor Activities.  Parents and children embraced this relatively new concept, and were excited to move into different rooms during their two and one-half hour preschool session.  Children were enrolled in part-time morning preschool classes, with an opportunity for afternoon, Mother’s Day Out sessions.

     My role was not only to teach, but to plan daily lessons and train teachers to implement the curriculum.  Today, thirty-five years later, Learning Time has grown to include three schools, Learning Time North, West, and Geist locations.  I continue to plan and write daily lesson plans for our Two through Four Year Old age groups, and we have maintained our original concept of rotating classrooms.  We have continued our vision of a home-like environment, rather than an institutional setting.  I believe the foundation of our program continues to be on academic development.  We constantly hear from both parents and public school personnel, how well prepared our children are for their grade-school experience.
